Guidelines
The following are the guidelines / rules for the IAC Teams Series. We believe that most "rules" for behaviour at the table are a matter of common-sense so these are procedural guidelines for the most part. The BBO rules for tournaments apply with the following additions:
- The TD’s for the team matches are not professionally trained so use at your own risk, their decision is final.
- "Split" Teams with one part in each session (Sat and Sun) may switch players between the sessions even if the players are listed as playing in one or the other.
- For players who do not wish to play against teams with experts we strongly suggest that if such a match is scheduled, you find a sub to play for you. Discourtesy will be met with immediate removal from the match and possibly a ban for any future IAC team matches. If the removal means the team no longer has sufficient players to continue (a sub of their own standing by) then the team will default.
- Teams who get a “bye”, either scheduled or as a result of the opps not showing up, will be given the choice of playing or not with a “sub” team, but whatever the result, the team having the enforced bye will be awarded [18] Victory Points.
- Team captains please tell your players to meet at a team table in IAC club 10 minutes before the match so the organizers know when your team is all present and ready to go.
- “Home” captains please be familiar with the procedure for setting tables as this is your responsibility [See the Match Settings Help Page]. Need help? Ask.
- "Away" captains are responsible for providing their player partnerships to the "Home" Captain.
- Winning captains, please be sure to post the “raw” scores in the results e.g. Feathers 17 - Balloons 15 not the + and - scores BBO posts as results. You will have the total IMP scores for each team visible on the Movie for the Match after the last Board has been completed.
- Both Winning and Losing Captains are asked to include on the website which of their players (and/or Subs) played in the Match. It is particularly important that the Winning Captain does so as otherwise their players will not get any IAC Masterpoints.
- If a team will be short a player, we ask that we be informed asap and that the captain try to find a sub, keeping us informed of his/her progress. We will try to assist in these circumstances but the availability and playing level of substitutes cannot be guaranteed and if a match cannot be played because some of your team are absent, then your team will forfeit the match.
- When a series ends, confirm your team intends to play in the following series. Teams not confirmed by Tuesday before the start weekend may be dropped.
- Scoring is based entirely on the Victory Points and, in the event of a tie on VPs, on the IMP Totals of the Teams at the end of a Series. In the event of two or more Teams being tied for 1st place teams will be given the option of sharing 1st place or having a playoff game to decide the Series.
- Be nice to friend and foe and enjoy the games.
